10 Podcasts That South African Women Enjoy Streaming

The popularity of podcasts continues to grow especially over the last year, where people valued convenience and instant access to a range of interesting topics. With over 2.9 million podcasts available on Spotify there’s something for everyone.
South Africa’s podcast culture has also skyrocketed where the likes of Mashudu Modau, Lebo Lion and MacG have rolled out the red carpet for a lot of millennials and GenZ audiences to also start their own channels/podcasts. The beauty about podcasts is that they’re unique in that, people generally stick to their niche audiences, unlike YouTube where we’re all just talking about a variety of things that are unrelated.
I was actually surprised when Spotify recently revealed the top podcasts streamed by female listeners across South Africa. Over the past three months, these top podcasts have favoured topics such as:
- Infotainment
- Wellness
- Motivation
These are the Top 10 Most Streamed Podcasts by Female Listeners in South Africa:
- The Joe Rogan Experience
- Oprah Super Soul
- Crime Junkie
- ASMR Aaron
- Audice Wellness Services
- Bible at Bedtime
- The Self Love Fix
- On Purpose with Jay Shetty
- Relaxing White Noise
- The Mindset Mentor
Personally, I would have liked to see more local podcasts make it onto the list. This however doesn’t dismiss what everyone else is listening to but that there’s a big gap for podcasts that cover these key topics.
Personally, my favourite podcasts have to be The Self Love Fix (which I’ve never heard about until now) and Problematic AF. Do share yours in the comment section below 🙂
