Fête de la Musique Festival 2021

Fête de la Musique Festival 2021

Newtown Junction hosted the Fête de la Musique Festival this past weekend and we were invited to join the celebrations locally. Also known as World Music Day, an annual popular free music festival that has been taking place in South Africa since 2010.

The last time I got to celebrate this momentous day was back in high school as a French student myself so having been invited to this event was very much nostalgic for me.

The Fête de la Musique Joburg was made possible by the French Institute of South Africa and the Alliance Française of Johannesburg, in partnership with Bassline Live and Newtown Junction, made possible by the continuous support of TOTAL Energies South Africa. Friends of Newtown Junction (including myself) came in numbers along with our plus ones to celebrate, dance, and express themselves fashionably at this family friendly occasion.

The order of the day was live music performances and DJ sets from, Spoken Priestess, MsParty, MX Blouse, BLK JKS & Musa Mashiane alongside other fabulous acts. Newtown Junction continuously celebrates the music and the arts through curated and safety controlled events such as Fete de la Musique. It is also a mall that prides itself in African
diversity that’s rich in culture – not forgetting your one stop mall for entertainment, fashion, food and
much more.

Arguably one of the most fun events I’ve been to this year, Newtown Junction surely knows how to hold it down.

Don’t forget to pass by occasionally for your convenience and cultural innovation.
