REVIEW: Palmers Coconut Co-Wash

REVIEW: Palmers Coconut Co-Wash

Hey magenge! It’s been a minute since I last wrote about haircare and today, I wanted to share my feedback on a product that I’ve been trying for the last two months. Two months yes, because this is sufficient time to determine whether or not the product is definitely worth buying.

As many folks would know, I am obsessed with co-washing and have been since my favourite content creator (@tooandalee) put me on. It’s been about two to three years now using co-wash products so this comes as no surprise.

The product I’ll be reviewing today is the Palmers Coconut Oil Cleansing Conditioner Co-Wash which comes in the form of a 473ml so best believe it will last you a while if your co-washing routine is bi-weekly. Like many co-wash products, there are many benefits that co-washes need to have in order for them to work on our hair.

Benefits of Co-Washing

  1. Moisturizing
  2. Decreases Dandruff
  3. Decreases tangles/knots
  4. Helps manage dryness and breakage
  5. Gently cleanses scalp

After using two other co-washes in the past namely the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale 3-in-1 conditioner and the Carol’s Daughter cleansing conditioner, there’s definitely a massive difference in the results I got from these two compared to the Palmers one.

Positives

Here are some of the positives that I experienced while using the product.

  1. Moisturizes very well – Due to the base ingredient being coconut oil, I knew for a fact that this would work because properties in the oil are able to penetrate through the hair shafts. The product definitely left my hair feeling quite fresh and soft, but also very strong which was apparent when I was detangling because I didn’t shed much hair.
  2. Detangling time is less – With most cleansing products, I’ve found that my detangling process is longer or that I’d have to detangle before, during and after my wash which becomes quite time consuming. With the Palmers co-wash, I managed to only detangle once and that was enough for me and minus one in terms of an extensive arm workout.
  3. Cleansed my scalp quite well – As its intended meaning, the co-wash definitely cleansed my scalp and hair however, I needed to make sure that I base my scalp with much needed oils to prevent my scalp from getting dry now that its Winter.

Negatives

  1. Use too many pumps to achieve product coverage – I always look for a product which can give me full coverage so that it works throughout my scalp. Unfortunately, this one doesn’t do that for my hair. This could also be because my hair is dense and thick therefore is likely to use more product.

Final Thoughts

As stated, this product has probably been the best one of all of the co-wash products I’ve tried. I think out of ten, I’d give it an eight.

I can’t wait to continue using it and trying other co-wash products in future!
